About

(via carlosdengler.com)

“Carlos Dengler’s music career for over a decade has focussed mainly on his bass guitar, keyboard and sound design work with the internationally acclaimed alternative rock group Interpol.

During his time with the group he also enjoyed a brief stint as a nightclub dj, often spinning records at the band’s after show parties all over the world. He also collaborated with other composers, such as Clint Mansell, on The HBO Voyeur Project, an avant-garde marketing video which won noteworthy advertising awards.

In 2006, he began work on a project that would take nearly two years to complete. With a runaway budget, many stops and starts in production and post-production, and unclear marketing and distribution objectives, My Friends Told Me About You, in which Dengler played the lead role, produced and composed the score, can mainly be remembered today as an example of artistic license unchecked; and yet the final product bears all the fruit of a finely polished and complete film. It can be seen as part of the DVD short film anthology quarterly Wholphin. Ultimately, Carlos edited the film down to its primal elements and created the video-art piece The Ontology of Celebrity which can be scene on this site.

Since leaving the band, Carlos Dengler is not active in the music scene, focussing instead on his acting work, for which he is currently in school training as a stage actor.”
